Comteck's Mail Server Virus Protection
As the first and only area provider to bring you new technology with V.92, Comteck Internet
Services now provides complete E-Mail Virus and Trojan Scanning on all @comteck.com E-Mail addresses.
E-Mail remains the number one thing people use the Internet for and with the rapid spread of new
viruses and trojans, Comteck wants you to feel secure knowing your Comteck E-Mail is clean and
free from virus threats. Powered by GeCAD Software's RAV
Anti-Virus, a leading technology company specialized in providing top anti-virus software since 1994, it
protects your critical data against malwares and unauthorized data delivery. Comteck's Virus
Definitions are updated automatically every 8 hours to ensure we have the most recent
and reliable
virus signatures.
If you have already received E-Mail from Comteck's RAV AntiVirus, the server is
set to notify you if someone has sent you E-mail containing a virus. We will try to clean the
E-Mail first then as a last resort, delete the attachment. Most current viruses, like Klez,
contain their own SMTP server, and sends infected E-Mail out on it's own. The entire
E-mail is the virus and it's difficult to tell it's origin. If you receive a notice,
it will attempt to identify the sender (not always possible with some viruses), and as a last resort,
the bottom includes the original header that may contain information regarding the E-Mail's origin.
The statistics are available online for your viewing pleasure at
Anti-Virus Stats.
So where are all there coming from? Here's a partial list that represent the bulk of it ... AOL, Road
Runner, Comcast, Insight, Compuserv, MSN, AT&T, Prodigy, Earthlink, Verizon, Ameritech, IQuest, Kiva,
and Skyenet/MyVine. These ISPs DO NOT provide protection for their users
against sending or receiving E-Mail viruses.
Comteck is committed to providing you with the best Internet Service available.
