To upload your web page, you will need
an FTP program such as WS-FTP. You can download WS-FTP LE free from either of the listed sites:
Download.com
Tucows.com
1. Creating a session profile.
When you first open WS-FTP, the first screen you will see is the Session Properties screen, which looks like this:

You will need to create a session profile within this properties screen. The information you need to enter is:
Profile Name: Comteck
Host Name: ftp.comteck.com
Host Type: UNIX(standard)
User ID: Your Comteck User Name
Password: Your Comteck password
If you wish, you may choose to save the password so that it does not have to be reentered each time you connect to your Comteck account. Be sure to leave "Anonymous" unchecked. When you are finished, your session profile should like similar to the picture above. Click "OK" to access the Comteck server.
2. Transferring files back and forth.
When you log into your Comteck account using WS-FTP, you should see a screen that looks similar to this:

As shown above, the left hand window displays the directories and files on your local hard drive, and the right hand window displays the directories and files on your Comteck web site. When you log into your Comteck account, the right hand side will have a directory labeled "public_html". This is where you will upload your homepage. You can access that directory by double clicking on it.

To transfer files from one window to the other, simply click once on the file you wish to transfer, then click once on the arrow between the two windows, which points in the direction that you wish to transfer the file to.
The URL for your web page is http://www.comteck.com/~(Your
user name)/
The default page, the main page others will see when accessing your page, must be
named-----> index.html
TIPS
Keep in mind when designing the page that graphics are neat but are a very time consuming for the person accessing your page. It is best to have several smaller images than one large one. Break your pages into smaller pages that pull up quickly instead of large pages. That will keep the interest of others viewing your page/s. Last but not least, no personal attacks on individuals or companies, no copyrighted material(lest you get sued by the copyrightee) and lastly, no pornography.
