Saftey Tips
There are some very important things you need to keep in mind
when you're on your computer at home or at school.
- First, never tell anyone things like your name, home address,
school name, or telephone number in a chat or on bulletin boards. Also, never send
a picture of yourself to someone you chat with on the computer without your
parents permission.
- Never talk to or write to someone who has made you feel uncomfortable, scared or if they
ask you for
- Do not agree to meet someone or have them visit you without the permission of your parents.
- Tell your parents right away if you read anything on the internet that makes you feel uncomfortable.
- Remember that people online may not be who they say they are. Someone who says that
"she" is a "12-year-old girl" could really be an older man.
How to Protect Kids' Privacy Online
Whether playing, shopping, studying or just surfing, today's kids are taking advantage of all that the web has to offer. But when it comes to their personal information online, who's in charge? In an effort to put parents in the catbird seat, the Federal Trade Commission has established new rules for website operators to make sure that kids' privacy is protected while they're online. These rules are part of the 1998 Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. To view these and other privacy rules
